The most useless question to ask

…is to ask someone you’re learning from, “How long did that thing take you?”

The answer to the question is irrelevant to you. If they say “1 day,” that doesn't account for all the times they did that exact thing before, plus the YEARS of being them and doing tangential and seemingly unrelated stuff that still allowed them to say "1 day” all these years later. Everything they are and everything they’ve done contributed to their ability to do something in a certain timeframe now.

This means you’re better off just trying the thing you want to try, seeing how long it takes you, then focusing on improving as you go. Give yourself a real example that’s specific to YOUR life.

Better to assume the answer to the question is “it depends,” then focus on the variables of your own situation more than anyone else’s. Because for this specific question, their answers are useless.
