Explorers, not experts
In the social media driven, all-is-public age, it can be tempting to avoid any project wherein you feel underqualified to say anything or make anything. After all, who are you to proclaim yourself an expert when so many visible, popular options exist?
Maybe that’s the trick: don’t proclaim yourself an expert at all. Declare yourself an explorer.
Explorers don’t need to be masters of the place they’re heading. They need to be masters of movement. They’re navigators who understand curiosity, and how to follow it.
For any topic you wish you knew more about or about which you want to create your work — and for any community you wish to serve — the world doesn’t need another expert. But it can always use another explorer.
Forget the answers. Ask better questions. Go exploring.
