If I had one wish for all of us
…it would be that we were all writers.
Writers write. We could all benefit from a bias to act.
Writers edit. We could all benefit from the habit of improving everything, of viewing everything we do as an iterative process.
Writers need empathy. We could all benefit from the ability to see the world as others see it.
Writers know story. We could all benefit from the research and the shaping of human-centric narratives to spread our ideas.
Writers self-express. We could all benefit from finding our voices and, more crucially, sharing them.
Writers translate their skill elsewhere. We could all benefit from the ability to evolve, to move with our aspirations and our audience’s needs.
Writing isn’t an inherent skill. It’s learned. Writing also isn’t a silver bullet for any problem. But the ability to write — and really, the willingness to assume the role of a writer in one’s own mind — could benefit most people and projects beyond measure.
